Brief Introduction: Bentonville is a town of 28,000 people located in Northwest Arkansas. This area has the headquarters of some of the largest companies such as Wal-Mart, Tyson, and J.B. Hunt trucking. Due to the growth of these companies, this is one of the fastest growing areas in the US.
Along with this growth, the number of Muslim families is also growing. Two and half years ago, we only had about 3 to 5 Muslim brothers in the area. Now, that number has grown to about 100 Muslims in the area. With the nearest Masjid about 35 miles away, it was difficult for many brothers to attend Jummah prayer, much less, attend regular prayers in the Masjid.
Alhamdulillah, we established a Masjid in Bentonville in 2005 by renting a small residential. With the growth of our community, we outgrew that office and are currently renting a small shop. Alhamdulilah, our community is still growing, so we are quickly running out of space. On an average we have over 50 brothers and sisters attending the jumah prayers. Last fall, we started teaching Islamic classes for children and adults. These classes are becoming very popular with attendance reaching about 50 students.
Current Need: Alhamdulillah as the Muslim community growing, we need to start a permanent masjid so that we can accommodate the growing need of the community and to provide an Islamic environment for the sisters and kids to follow the path of ISLAM. Based upon the analysis/market study, it looks like buying a land and building a masjid or buying an existing building to use as a masjid will cost around $300,000. We have raised approximately $65,000 in pledges, but we do need more. We need your help in raising the funds needed. Any help on this regard is very much appreciated and may Allah reward you for your support with this noble task. Any donations would be appreciated.
