Brief Introduction: Bentonville is a town of 36,000 people located in Northwest Arkansas. This area has the headquarters of some of the largest companies such as Wal-Mart, Tyson, and J.B. Hunt trucking. Due to the growth of these companies, this is one of the fastest growing areas in the US.
Along with this growth, the number of Muslim families is also growing. Two and half years ago, we only had about 3 to 5 Muslim brothers in the area. Now, that number has grown to about 150+ Muslims in the area. With the nearest Masjid about 35 miles away, it was difficult for many brothers to attend Jummah prayer, much less, attend regular prayers in the Masjid.
Alhamdulillah, we had established a Masjid in Bentonville in 2005 by renting a small residential property which later with the growth of our community outgrew to a small shop. Alhamdulilah, we started teaching Islamic classes for children and adults. These classes are becoming very popular with attendance reaching about 50 students.
Current Needs:
Alhamdulillah BIC was able to purshase property for a permanent masjid in March 2010, so that we can accommodate the growing need of the community and to provide an Islamic environment for the sisters and kids to follow the path of ISLAM. Currently we are in need of funds to extend the parking space for the masjid. Any help in this regard is very much appreciated and may Allah reward you for your support with this noble task.
